Every Story in Ecko is made of blocks. Different blocks allow you to add different types of content, or format content differently.

Add a block to a Story

1. Open the Story you want to edit.
2. Place your cursor where you want the block to appear.
3. Use the add block button or type / to choose a block.
4. Select the block you want to add.
5. With a block selected, use the Block settings panel on the right to change the block’s options.

Types of blocks

• Paragraph: used for normal body text. You’ll likely be using a lot of these and it’s the default block that gets created automatically when you just start typing. Within a paragraph you can apply test formatting such as bold and italics or insert links.
• Heading: used for creating subheadings within a Story to organise long-form content.
• Image: used to insert a single image into a Story.
• Gallery: used to create a grid of multiple images. You can also easily convert two single Image blocks into a Gallery block by simply dragging and dropping one image alongside another.
• List: used for short grouped points, either numbered or bulleted.
• Quote: used for a short quoted message that should stand apart from the main text.
• Buttons: used for important links, such as a form, booking page, payment page or further information.
• Diary Date: used to display information about an event that should stand out from the rest of the Story. These blocks allow readers to easily add the event to their own calendar in a couple of taps.
• PDF File: used for a document that readers may need to view or download.
• YouTube Embed, Vimeo Embed: used to display video content.
• Separator: a simple horizontal line used to divide content within a longer Story.
• Table: used for simple information that needs rows and columns.
